Odder Worlds – Building an RPG 2

Tonight on Odder Worlds, we are continuing to give you a look at the behind the scenes work that goes on in preparing a game.

This time:  Those who have fallen out of the world.

Every year thousands of people go missing.  What if they are still around, they just can’t interact with everyone else.  What would you do if no one could see or hear you anymore?  If strange things howled from the wilderness?  If stranger things waited in the cities?  What is life like when you fall out of the world?

Note: Actual missing person statistics are misleading.  In any given year only one or two thousand people in the US go missing and stay missing.  Obviously we

The Geekly Oddcast 39 – No Noose is Good Noose

This week we discuss various topics that have been floating around the Geekosphere. I realize a few of these are a tad old but we have had some publication issues as of late.

Odder Worlds – Building an RPG 1

Tonight on Odder Worlds, we wanted to give you a look at what goes on behind the screen.  We’re taking a couple of ideas and developing them into something that could be used for a campaign.

This time:  There are many stories of great threats facing the world, of terrible cataclysm, and unnatural disaster.  No, what’s happening here is completely normal it just hasn’t happened in a long, long time.  The Elves know the truth they know that the world is just changing into something better.  But to everyone else?  What does the mayfly think when the sun goes down?

The Geekly Oddcast – The New Doctor

Welcome to another episode of The Geekly Oddcast, this week we revisit the new Doctor, just after the release of the first episode – The Woman Who Fell to Earth. We truly enjoyed this episode and couldn’t wait to share it with you. Though we did hav ea few technical difficulties getting it out. I cannot wait for where this season will go, it is honestly the first time in a while that I’ve been this excited about Doctor Who.

Update: We are coming close to the end of Season 1 – Our current plan is to finish out through end of November and perhaps begining of December, then we will be taking a break to regroup and organize for an even better season 2 based on what we have learned form this season. I want to thank everyone who listens for helping spur us on to do this show. If you have any ideas for the show or just want to drop us a line email us at TheBrothersHerman@gmail.com

Odder Worlds – Pigsmoke – They Might Be Giant 4

Somewhere in the distance, on a world with no sun, within a giant whelk shell, upon a cold and hostile ocean…

And so it ends.  The great ship Narwhal is on fire, there are spiders in the sky, and one of the professors has a plan to destroy everything.  Well, all of the professors do, but one of them is actually trying.  Once again, our heroes have ignored what is going on around them and are about to reap the consequences.  This is Pigsmoke.

Be sure to check out the Extra episode if you want to get a glimpse of what Willy did when no one was looking.

The Geekly Oddcast 37 – Over the Edge – Non Final Fantasy RPGs

We’re starting a new series here on the Geekly Oddcast. On Over the Edge panelists will bring the movies, games, songs, or whatever else they remember to on an exclusive all expenses paid cruise.  But there’s limited room on the ship.  The top five get to stay, everything else is going over the edge.

This week panelists Tom Herman, David Herman, and Jarod Cerf are dredging up  RPGs that are not Final Fantasy to see what makes the cut.

If you have RPGs you’d like to see tossed into the sea, let us know at http://brothersherman.dudeletter.com/

The midterm continues.  Or does fighting an ancient golem made of candy and baked goods count as extra credit.  Well it doesn’t matter, the students aren’t the ones doing the fighting.  Yoltar is awake and he is out to prove that creatures from the before-times are not to be trifled with.  But if our ‘heroes’ manage to make it out with their lives, what will they find back at the Academy?

The Geekly Oddcast 36 – How We Started in RPGs

It all has to start somewhere.  You may not have noticed, but many of us on the Geekly Oddcast are really into pen and paper RPGs.  Well, one night, after recording an episode of Odder Worlds, we decided to talk about our RPG experience and how we got started in one of our favorite hobbies.  This is a story of first steps, of childhood, of introductions, gateway games, and how it all began for a generation that grew up with the internet but not ‘with’ the internet.

Panel: Tom Herman, David Herman, Jarod Cerf, Kenneth Hurt
